Its that time of the year where we get obsessed with the word New year resolutions and now after a month’s time not sure how many are still with the same zeal towards their resolutions.

Great things never came from comfort zones! Every year, it’s the same old story for many; Make awesome New year resolutions, Start with great enthusiasm and work towards the same for a fortnight or a month and then one or two months down the line, forget it completely as if you never made any resolution.

‘I still remember my friend telling me that he wanted to QUIT SMOKING during December 2017 and i was really happy to hear that but it did not last for more than a month and he still smokes as of January 2022’. When are you not at all serious why boast with one?

What do we choose; ‘A Strategic Plan’ or ‘ A Dream’ ?

The latter one would inspire you more to stick with your resolutions if defined well. Resolutions should be feasible. Know yourself, your capacity, know where you are heading towards and then plan accordingly. It’s advisable to make smaller resolutions and achieve them first than working on Bigger New year resolutions directly. Learn from your mistakes and never repeat them. Firstly, change your mindset, without that you can’t reach your goals. Like someone said,

“YOUR BODY CAN STAND ALMOST ANYTHING. IT’S YOUR MIND THAT YOU HAVE TO CONVINCE.”

As per the recent research, the following points have been made:

Top 10 New year resolutions by the survey – Statisticsbrain

Almost 45% of the Americans make Resolutions out of which only 8 % succeed reaching them as per Forbes.

When you start working towards achieving your New year resolutions, never hurry, as you would be doing something different than usual YOU. Hence, there might be chances of friction, leading you to gradually stop working on your resolution. Remember the tortoise in your nursery school, ‘Slow and steady wins the race’; Be that tortoise.

10 Tips to achieve your NEW year resolutions!

First be calm and visualize your resolution, it’s pre-requisites and plans up accordingly. Also, think about the after effects, the pros and cons. This is very much essential before beginning to work on the resolution. The pros will boost your mind and help you gain confidence. In short, make a solid plan.

Focus and Feel the changes or the after effects. Meaning to say, once you figure out how it would feel or what changes would you indulge in your routine life after achieving the goal / resolution.

Invite opportunities:where you can start working on your resolution. Build that platform where you can work on your goals. Step beyond your comfort zone.

Make notes where you can note down all that you have been doing to achieve your resolution which will help you to remain focused and stay connected with the goal.

Try different approach. To achieve something what you have never achieved, you need to do something what you never did.

Read our article SMART Goals on setting smart goals.

Start with small and smart goals not big.

Action speaks louder than words. All is nonsense unless you really start working on it. So, Stop speaking and start doing.

Scared / Risky / Lazy / Moody? Why did you even think of this resolution then? Get over it ELSE you would be stuck in the same place on December 31st 2018.

Started and failed on the way? Never mind. You are better than what you were previous year. Try and try till you succeed and NEVER GIVE UP!

Most importantly, BE DISCIPLINED and TRUTHFUL to yourself. If you can make this small change you will be on track to achieve any goals / dreams / resolutions.

The above steps would definitely help you in getting yourself on the right direction. At this point you would feel burdened with the TO-DO list or mandatory tasks or you might be even in a verge of discontinuing your new year resolutions. DON’T GIVE UP!!

“STAY COMMITTED TO YOUR DECISIONS BUT STAY FLEXIBLE IN YOUR APPROACH”

Stay away from those which would distract you or drive you away from your resolutions. Don’t get drifted. Be firm with your goals. If you aren’t aware of what you have been doing, it is as good as a cat drinking the milk blindly. TRUST YOURSELF and YOUR CAPABILITIES and achieve all those resolutions that you have been planning from several years.

All the best folks!

Meanwhile If you are an employee who works on so called 8 hours job; firstly it’s never 8 hours, it’s minimum of 8 hours and then adding all other work on top of your hectic office work is definitely going to make you more tired. So, what do you think is the most difficult and challenging task on a daily basis?

Job, Reaching on time, Healthy food, completing tasks?

Nah..! We are sure, you rock at all that. We are speaking about turning off your alarm and getting up naturally with not even 1% repent of waking up to face the day. Yes, this is no more a joke (of-course unless you are on a vacation).

As per reports

Majority of working Indian’s are suffering from lack of sleep i.e. sleep less than 8 hours everyday. In the present situation where each individual is completely occupied with responsibilities or work, end up their day with a ‘Phew!‘. We often tend to say ‘Let me sleep for 5 more minutes’ when our all-time enemy Mr. Alarm wakes us up in the morning without realizing importance of our of sleep.

Questions we usually get or ask ourselves due to lack of sleep:

Why do i forcefully get up every single day?

I am always lack of sleep, But why?

Why are you sleepy whole day at work?

Am taking more time to complete a task sometimes; Not sure, why?

Why can’t we complete our required sleep hours and then begin the day with full enthusiasm and fresh mood?

Reference: pinterest.com

Per the current trends,

Average human beings sleep between 10 PM to 6 AM, however few of them either tend to get inspired by Sir Abdul Kalam’s quotes “Dream is not the thing you see in sleep but is that thing that doesn’t let you sleep” or “some dive so much into laptop or mobile that they tend to forget about sleep”. As a result you end up sleeping around 2 AM or 3 AM or even 4 AM sometimes which is still acceptable if you sleep for next 7-8 hours but the problem occurs when you wake up at 7 AM – 8 AM to get back to daily race of life.

Believe me, you are ruining your future if you are continuously killing your sleep hours! May it be pass-time, movies, your dream project or any other work pressure, lack of sleep on regular basis is not going to fetch any good for yourself or your future. God forbidden; What if you get a heart stroke? couple of secs and everything is vanished. All your hard work will be flushed off and all you hear is BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP……!

According to experts, sleep removes the neural garbage. It also helps in better decision making. You can again argue, ‘all that i need is some rest to my mind; then, let me take a break for half an hour and then get back to work’. Believe me, you are fooling yourself. We humans have a body part named PREFRONTAL CORTEX in the brain which is meant for decision making.

Try this! A small experiment folks.

For next 1 minute don’t think anything. Keep your mind blank.

(Pause)…….

Try!!

Caught you! You were still thinking of ‘NOT THINKING ANYTHING’.

The prefrontal cortex is still functioning. Sleep is the only way to rest your Prefrontal cortex in order to utilize it better for the rest of the day / next day.

Our health is directly proportional to our sleep. In fact, both are interdependent on each other. We observe the decline in the sleeping hours with age. The below table is self-explanatory on the ideal sleep hours for all the age groups. If followed properly, we can avoid many health related issues.

Lack of sleep leads to following adverse effects:

Lack of Concentration, reasoning power, alertness, problem solving capacities.

Reduces learning capacities.

An unhealthy or improper diet followed with no sleep or less sleep hours leads to OBESITY.

Lack of sleep increases blood pressure due to stress.

It also weakens the immunity system, which is otherwise designed to protect us from cough, cold, flue etc.

Disturbed mind.

Leads to skin damage, hence you would grow old sooner than the actual rate.

Have negative impact like long and short term memory loss.

Harms your heart. Beware! <6 hours of sleep leads to a greater risk of coronary heart disease and strokes as well when compared to people having 7-8 hours of sleep. All above mentioned consequences can be avoided just by providing sufficient amount of sleep.

Is a quick nap after Research activity / study / brain-storming session or anything that involves learning recommended?

A nap after study is like hitting CTRL+S (save option) after creating a content. If you save it, it will remain in memory else you might loose. Similarly, information is saved in memory at a much higher rate when you have a nap after study. Memory slip rate slows down when one sleeps after studying. This suggests that, getting adequate sleep is a critical part of learning something new, and plays an important part in stabilizing new memories.

Thus,

Increase overall productivity. Sleep scientists’ studies have shown that 90 minutes of sleep is advisable after study. Sleep helps one to re-analyze his or her memories, leading to increased insight. As the day wears on, a degradation in thinking ability is observed. For a few, an afternoon nap increases learning capacity, and for others, it’s a cup of caffeine. To simply brief it out, researchers say sleeping just after studying improves one’s ability to recall information. However, we should also accept the bitter truth that memory-enriching sleep stages start declining in our late 30s, though research on how to enhance these stages in old age is still going on.

WORK will still be there in the morning, a good-night sleep won’t be.

SLEEP is a vast subject in all. It really plays an important role in our lives. In short Don’t neglect it. We at JUMPWHERE have tried our best to picture it’s importance and if this would bring a change in even a single person’s Timetable, we would consider our goals achieved for this article. For more information on sleep we would suggest to read ‘DREAM LAND- Adventures in the strange science of Sleep’’ – by David K Randell. Don’t forget to share us your story in the comments below on What keeps you awake at late nights and causes lack of sleep.

eLitmus is also known as eLitmus pH is a 2 hour online exam conducted by eLitmus private Ltd. Yes, it is off-campus recruitment, launched in 2005. eLitmus is helpful for freshers and entry-level job seekers based on the varieties of parameters. Recruitment is made easier and the best candidates are filtered. It has three sections:

Quantitative Aptitude

Verbal English

Logical & Analytical Reasoning

What eLitmus does?

Every week, it conducts a pH test, at national level across India.

It evaluates the job seekers on various parameters.

It uses an advanced, statistical model to grade each candidate

Is eLitmus for freshers?

Truly speaking, there are no eligibility criteria for this exam, but, presently, candidates during or after their degree in B.E/B.Tech, MCA, ME/ M.Tech , M.Sc(CS/IT) are benefited by this exam.

We can say this is mainly for the freshers.

Is this paid? Yes, it is a paid activity to register and take the test.

Is it trustworthy? Yes, a lot of freshers take part in this and land up in receiving good interview calls with good package.

What’s the benefit of taking the eLitmus for freshers?

We have been often hit by the recession and the ups and downs in the market.

This, in turn, affects the Campus Interviews and many skilful minds are left unseen.

Hence Off-campus is all that the freshers are left with, which isn’t that easy.

So candidates from various colleges, which hardly have any campus recruitment are equally benefitted by this exam

How to crack the eLitmus test?

Preferably the best way to crack the exam is by solving previous year papers and mock papers.

But there is a knack of solving these too. For there is negative marking. (Discussed further) in this exam.

The more consistent your efforts are, the sooner you will reach your destination

Here are a few tips which when followed, will make it easier for you to crack the elitmus pH test.

Firstly know the structure of the paper:

This pen & paper test has 3 sections. Each section consists of 20 Multiple choice questions of 10 marks each. So, the total marks are 600, considering the 3 sections.

There might be “Fill in the blank” type of questions too.

Though there isn’t a dedicated and well-defined syllabus for the exam, its often advised following the MBA entrance exam materials for the preparation.

Good news to many is that there aren’t any programming related questions asked in the exam.

Sections of the eLitmus paper for freshers:

Verbal Ability:

Easiest section of three:

6 Questions of “Fill in the Blanks” type.

2 Questions of “Para jumbled” type.

12 Questions of “Comprehensive” type : (It has 3 paragraphs with 4 Questions each)

Tips:

9 Questions of “Logical Reasoning Puzzles “ problems.

Tips:

Avoid the Crypto arithmetic related questions as they are time taking problems. Answer them only if you are mastered in such questions.

6-8 correct answers in this section will contribute to, you scoring 90 percentile in all.

Spending 20-30 mins to solve other three types of questions will fetch you straight 5 answers correct.

How to prepare for eLitmus?

Now that you are aware of the complexity of the questions, it’s understood that without your basics being strong on reasoning and aptitude, you can’t dream of preparing in a weeks time before the exam dates.

Hence,

*Know the proper syllabus.

*Have strong basics

*Solve previous years question papers.

*Follow sites like MyGeekMonkey and Jumpwhere Aptitude

*Join the official Facebook Group E-litmus Preparation. This will surely be of your help.

How are negative marks considered in the elitmus for freshers?

*Negative markings are section wise.

Negative marking starts if you give more than 1/4th of the total questions wrong.

*Half a mark will be deducted for the rest of every wrong answer if you give more than 25% wrong answers of the total questions.

In essence, consider you have attempted 12 questions off which 25% are wrong (3 questions). So here, no negative marking is done.

But if 8 are right and 4 wrong then the fourth one has the negative marking and not the other three.

Is it worthy to take up elitmus for freshers?

Ask yourself if all you want is to just be another engineer in IT. If having an IT job is the only dream you have, be it where ever you find one, then you aren’t dreaming big!

Elitmus is not an easy one to crack, so the companies hiring you through this are really the dream companies!

Be sure you can go for it and if you capable of clearing it. Yes, it is like one step clearance in getting hired if you have cleared the elitmus exam. Your resume will for sure have more weightage.

Home maker, house wife, finished studies and sitting at home, completed Masters, looking for marriage proposals, learning to cook etc are the common replies we get when asked about our daughters/sisters even today. With great difficulty females are allowed to take up some decent job after their studies. But, nerdy girls i.e. nerdy and girls are like two facets of the coin for many. Well, no doubt, Women are capable of doing everything men do, but it’s often seen that they are never considered to be fit in the corporate world or techie world.

A woman is always admired for beauty. However woman with brains are admired more. Yes, though being girlish, she can always try to be technically sound and even surpass most men. With the known fact that companies need to maintain gender ratio, females get an opportunity to show their capacities in the corporate jobs a.k.a be a nerdy girl as well.

“Women are already smart and intelligent. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that intelligence”

Another fact which is stuck in everyone’s mind like an insect in the spider’s web is that women always find excuses such as mood swings, family responsibilities, work-life balance problems and are sympathy seekers. Needless to say, Relations are very delicate to be handled and women do it with ease. When she can accept different challenges in family, she can really be good at job too. She can be an awesome problem solver and can think in different angles on a problem and solve it, many a times better than men.

Probably, it will be proven with blind job auditions only.

Blind Job Audition? Am sure many wouldn’t have heard about it. A blind audition is done by removing the candidate’s identification information and thus leaving the employer select a resume purely on the basis of the technology qualifications and knowledge the candidate owns. Blind auditions in any field, be it technology, music, art and so on, have always increased the female hiring to a drastic number. This is not a new method. Blind auditions have been in practice in various countries since 70’s.

“IF MORE WOMEN ARE IN LEADERSHIP ROLES, WE WILL STOP ASSUMING THEY SHOULDNT BE.”

-Sheryl Sandberg

We all use browsers and of course Google chrome is what majority of the people use. Let me ask you a question. Do you feel safe browsing on chrome? I do and indeed, the billions of crowd out there does. All thanks to a female named Parisa Tabriz and her team.

Who is Parisa Tabriz? She is the master mind who controls the chrome security leading a team of hackers. She is the Google’s head of product security for the company’s Chrome browser. They are not like the ugly hackers we have pictured in our minds. In fact, they help us from getting into traps of black hats/unethical hackers and make us feel secured. Parisa leads a team of 30, with most of male developers.

Her job is to make sure all our accounts are safe and that nothing is stolen. Tabriz is called the SECURITY PRINCESS and is the security weapon of Google. Her only goal is to protect all the users from the black hats and the techniques used to harm the users.

Her experiences:

As a Browser Boss at Google: Responsible for the Chrome browser we ship on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome OS.

Developed a web vulnerability detection system for Google’s products via log detection and replay.

Served as a Consultant at United States Digital Service.

Researched methods to passively fingerprint wireless devices.

Like Parisa Tabriz, there are many other nerdy girls. To name a few:

Rashmi Sinha: CEO and Co-founder of Slideshare

Padmasree Warrior: Chief Technology and Strategy Officer of Cisco systems.

Vanitha Narayanan: Managing Director, IBM India.

Kumud Sreenivasan: President , Intel India.

Neelam Dhawan: MD, Hewlette Packard

Aruna Jayanthi: CEO of Capgemeni India

Virginia Sharma: VP of Marketing, Communications & Corporate Citizenshipfor IBM India.

Kirthiga Reddy: Head and Director Online Operations, Facebook India.

Raji Arasu: Stubhubs’s Chief Technology Officer.

Gayathri Baragohain: India’s ACM-W ambassador and a member of the ACM India Council.

The list can go on and on but I guess I made the point clear enough. NERDY GIRLS DO EXIST!

Simple tip to reach the nerdy girls gang:

Start now. If you are a working individual, surround yourself with motivated people. Make a group and learn new things. Make smart goals. Have a mentor. Learn new skill every 3 months along with your regular work.

ALSO READ: Its possible to achieve GOALS if they are SMART GOALS

If you are a student, then explore your potential, involve in creative and logical activities. Think out of the box and come up with crazy ideas. Understand how the eco-system works. Have one of successful people as your role model and try to learn from them.

ALSO READ: College Project may decide your Job Profile

If you are a parent, make your kids passionately take interest in multiple activities from childhood itself. While there are parents who are keen in joining their kids for computer class music, dance, art ,sports and other classes etc but just as a hobby and not out of passion and zeal.

Everyone must be aware of the bigger picture, the longer vision. Once they taste it, as in experience it, they will surely want to know more and more about the same.

We need to encourage more women to get out of the four walls and embrace new challenges. We need to dream about living in a world where girls like above mentioned names are our future technologists.

If this happens, we will soon live in the world where girls create technology to manage a home as well as many other daily tasks where woman need not be present.

Let’s start making brand new stories.

Examination fever flooded everywhere; may it be in the form of appraisals for yourself or final exams for your children. Unlike yourself, you are more concerned about your kid’s exams. The whole year we remain quiet but suddenly we are under, ‘Extreme pressurized situation’ during exams season! More than the students it seems like the parents are appearing for the exams! In-spite of hectic office work, you will be researching about your kid’s exams, teach them, make various strategies to deal with children scoring low marks and sometimes even end up taking leaves from office as well.

Somehow exam days pass with a short pause post exam till the results are announced. On the result day, you keep biting your nails and then after that LONG WAIT, comes the time to open the report card! Deserving students do score per expectations and make their parents easy to take the sigh of relief. Some generous parents even end up celebrating or fulfilling their kids’ desires / wishes.

However, there is always a dark side. Yes. You are right, am speaking about those who failed to live up-to their own and their parent’s expectations! What would be the scene at their house?

Sadly, it’s worse than what we can think about. Yes, you can blame the heartless and the competitive world, the ruthless question papers, your kids for not performing, teachers for not teaching properly, mobile phones, technology, friends or even yourself for not being a better parent!

Usual scenario at home when children score less marks in exams:

Parents start yelling at their kids at the top of their voices.

They compare their kids with other kids – sometimes someone among relatives, friends, neighbours or some random top scoring student.

This tends to mentally weaken such kids and they feel left alone. Parents make them feel they aren’t worth being their kids, and sometimes this breaks them emotionally.

They curse themselves for not being a good parent or mom and dad start blaming each other.

The kid who is already upset with marks, is now mentally disturbed and has lost confidence. Most of the time this is the main causes for depression in kids.

Month of March-April is tough for MOST OF US; working employees will have appraisals and kids HAVE THEIR final exams.

If you are a working parent, then you have more challenges to face, however if below pointers are followed, one can plan better. Reasons for failing in exams or less marks can be plenty but need of the hour is to solve the problem by figuring out how parents could deal with their children in this issue.

Eight superb strategies to deal with children scoring low marks to ensure your kid wins big by over-coming the failure

Calm yourself first: For a moment, you might seem like the most frustrated human on earth but relax, take a deep breath and just be silent and patient. Your scoldings / yellings will only make the situation worse.

Analyse the report card: Sit with your kid and go through the report patiently. Before considering the negatives, point out the good points where they did well and appreciate it. Figure out the areas of improvement. It may not tell the entire story, but atleast you can figure out his or her interest levels in the subjects.

Plan the next exam: Come up with a new strategy of learning or road map and change their way of study. Get periodic updates on the same. Help them in any possible way you can.

Avoid any kind of punishments: None can change their past, but a sheet of paper isn’t everything to decide your kid’s future. Then why are you screwing your kid’s present and making their future worse? Though not intentionally, pressurizing kids with your interests and desires, is like throttling their wishes, dreams, desires and aspirations. If you punish them today, tomorrow they will start hiding their results and stop sharing a lot of things with you.

Read and Think between the lines: Report cards are one of the key ingredients to prepare strategies to deal with children scoring low marks. Report cards aren’t just to be focused on the numbers but also aspects like:

Areas of improvement.

Subjects they are good at.

Areas they are consistently leading and lacking.

Chapters / Areas / Subjects they are struggling to understand.

Subjects / Areas they are capable of understanding and not, and lot of other aspects too.

DON’T LET EXAM RESULTS DECIDE YOUR FATE!

Nurture their dreams: Water their dreams and guide them in a planned manner. Race for money, carry family business etc may give them the way to live but not the reason to live. Know your kid’s passion, understand them than being a HITLER in their life. Don’t delay in correcting them if you feel things are worse. Act then and there.

Think out of the box: Making them mainstream isn’t a great thing, instead, give them the freedom to think and do out of the box and surely they can do wonders! Ofcourse Engineers are Doctors are most of the parents dream even now, but not to forget there are plenty of dreams in a child’s mind. Your child would still become good doctor or an engineer if you wished to, but he could be the best ” _______”.

Push them: Be a mentor / a guide / a trainer who is always reachable to their kids and be a strong support to your kids. Help them understand the topic better, sometimes reading out loud can create interests in learning. Do it for them. Converse with their lecturers / teachers and get periodic feedback. A lot of strategies to deal with children scoring low marks fail because parents concentrate only on studies and nothing else. Not to forget, Brain develops with proper food. Concentrate on their diet and food plan as well as their sleep activities. Plan up some fun activities after school clubs, which may help them rest from the tug off war.

If you still think marks or degree will fetch you success:

Mark Zuckerberg (dropped out) founded FACEBOOK first and then gets his honorary degree after 12 years.

founder Colonel Sanders was aged 60+ when he found KFC.

Sachin Tendulkar was high school drop out.

Albert Einstein had speech issue till the age of 9. He seldom spoke.

Hence, it’s totally fine to screw up your 10th or 2nd PU / 12th or even Degree marks. The world doesn’t end by providing good colleges or getting recruited through CAMPUS placements. Practical knowledge matters a lot; E.g. Your kid scored distinction in Electronic engineering but can’t figure out why the TV isn’t working properly.

Nowadays parent’s strategies to deal with children scoring low marks fail because children today are more knowledged / addicted about latest trends / technologies and parents tend to feel degraded or outdated. This could be a boon or a distraction for them; this is where you need to align you kids towards their betterment. Their knowledge on trending areas and your experiences in life along with strategies to deal with children scoring low marks mentioned above can provide perfect inputs needed for your children’s growth.

Expressing love towards mom is a beautiful emotion which a lot of us don’t realize its importance unless we are too late to express or we end up expressing with all compromises due to the materialistic worldly needs. This article is about one such child who is repenting for not living up to the emotional attachment towards mom and taking an opportunity to express the same on this mother’s day. If you are one among them, kindly read out the narrations; relate to your mom and try to make this mother’s day a better one compared to earlier and make sure every day is mothers day.

Beautiful narration about a child who always wanted to express love towards mom but never did until this mother’s day:

– When I was kid, my day used to begin with a sight of your smiling face! Every day was indeed a mother’s day for me. I don’t know why, but even to this date, I go blank thinking how shall I say ‘I love you mom’. Maybe my words aren’t sufficient to express it; hence I am leaving this note.

– While you badly want to take rest or take an off for the day from all your housework but still wake up thinking about me, I feel like saying I love you, mom…

– When the sun is about to rise and you come to wake me up, your reluctant hands wanting me to sleep for some more time, I feel like saying, I love you Mom…

– When you are bored of cooking the same thing every day, yet cook my favorite dish (though you hate it). Not to forget the feel you carry; as if you won the best chef award just by hearing “hmmmm…yummy food…!”, I feel like saying, I love you Mom….

– Neither interest nor curious to know about the new technology or even smartphone but still eager to be in touch. Those constant messages to check if I reached safely by texting on WhatsApp or even saying “Have food on time”. Not to forget those silly sweet typos made in these texts (with a shy feeling of what would I think), I feel like saying it’s alright mom, I still love you.

– When our neighbor’s child reaches home and I am still out, those thousands of untold, un-shared thoughts running in your mind. You not uttering a word until I reach home and once I reach you start bombarding me with same words every single time; and I bluntly reply saying “Am grown up now, I can take care of myself” but what I don’t reply back is, ‘I love you mom, your scolding’s also sound sweet and memorable’.

– When you take all the blame when I break some stuff or misplace any valuables, so that dad wouldn’t scold me, I feel like saying, I love you Mom…

– While you don’t update with the current fashion trend, and pinpoint everything you feel is not in place (I repeat almost everything) and start with “hamare zamaane mein,…….bla bla bla…”, I feel like cuddling you and saying I love you, Mom…

– When my friend gets better marks than me and dad starts comparing; the way you hold my hands tightly to make me feel you are with me and those words of belief, “it’s ok beta, next time…”, I feel like saying I love you Mom…

– When I see my childhood videos (a flashback, refreshing memories) wherein you hurt yourself protecting me, which for a second takes your life away, but still not scolding me. I feel like running and hugging you and just say, I love you Mom.

– At the dining table when I say am full (realizing the less quantity), although badly wanted to hog it off if given a chance), still you serve me again, with an extra spoon (reading my mind), I feel like saying, I love you mom…

– When I think of those smaller to complex sacrifices you did in my upbringing and having no regrets, I feel like screaming at the top of my voice saying, I love you Mom…

– When you see my love towards you being shared with my better half, yet finding your happiness in mine and not complaining. I feel like saying, I love you mom…

– Moment’s when you recall all my mischievous deeds while I was a kid and remember every silly act of mine; I feel like saying, I love you mom…

– When I realize you just came out of the bathroom after crying secretly on the pain you have treasured in your heart; yet did not let me feel the pinch of it, I feel like holding your hand and saying I love you mom….

– Sleepless nights during fevers to apology letters to my teachers, forgiveness for all my mistakes to supporting me against others even though it was my mistake; being best friend to best teacher; the memories I have are endless and I can write a book on the same. Although the current life keeps me busy; but the more I grow older the better I realize that mom, you are, were and will always remain my best friend.

How can I make sure every day is mothers day?

To everyone out there, if you have never said I LOVE YOU to your mom; give a try this mother’s day. We will not tell you how to spend mother’s day because we believe every day is mothers day and a day without mother is not a complete day. But, this (mother’s) day on-wards make an attempt to express all the love you kept within. It’s not that tough; Ek baar bolke dekho yaar, kitna acha lagega.

When we can say I LOVE YOU to our country, teachers, friends, better half, why not tell to someone who loves us the most. She is the best actor at hiding things and she is the best detective to figure out anything you are hiding from her. This mother’s day, don’t hide any emotions towards her; let them flow.

Let her know you never meant to trouble her anytime nor intended to hurt her. Tell her, you always treated her like your best friend and how scared you are to lose her. Tell her she is the best secret keeper among all your friends and she is the only one whom you can count on; at any point in your life; no matter you turn 16 or 60.

You always took her for granted but this day onwards; along with taking for granted (yeah you won’t stop doing that no matter what) make her feel special, tell her she is your strength and she is the only one whom you can blindly trust on.

A simple “I love you, Happy mother’s day :)” would surely bring a huge smile on her face which can be cherished life-long; it’s a cheap deal my friends; just two lines every day isn’t difficult to anyone I guess.

Hopefully, this article highlights some of your mother-child bonding. Do share what was your favorite mom-child time.

A walk besides the beach, lunch at your favorite restaurant, watch a movie, catch up with your friends, go back to mom’s place (if you are married) or get relaxed are few of the best way to have a stress free weekend. But, playing various roles like wife, a mom, a daughter-in-law, one of the sources of income, house-hold manager, the first teacher of her kids, and being herself (if time permits) is stressful yet very common JD (job description) for a woman.

Men can but women cant:

Unlike men, who can easily go for after work parties, fall on the lounge or bed once home, woman needs to work like a machine and run the show pretend to be a super-cool robot. No matter what, she still needs to play the home maker’s role before hitting the bed. She gets impatient, irritated, frustrated, angry which again results in arguments leading her into depression. Believe me, these are the common symptoms when she is stressed but the woman is a beautiful actress to hide them. Who is more stressed is definitely a debatable topic, however we want to convey the message “women too need a stress free weekend“.

Men can always spend their weekend by relaxing with their family, friends, or alone. Women usually pile up the miscellaneous work at the weekend which could not be completed otherwise in the weekday. Forget about week day, even stress free weekend for a woman is very difficult to accomplish. We, at JUMPWHERE ask, why can’t they too relax just like men? Just because, she can’t avoid, she shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Does women really feel stressed out?

Even if small work is undone, women are blamed for not being well organized or taunted for silly reasons which could be ignored. When people preach saying men and women are equal, why not actually follow. Women do have full rights to have stress free weekend. They even feel relaxed when they are pampered, supported emotionally, than being left all alone.

THE WOMAN IN THE HOME IS THE PRINCESS OF THE HOME AND NOT SERVANT OF THE HOME

Studies prove that women are more stressed than men. Stress is always mistaken to be related to mind. It’s purely due to physical and hormonal imbalance. It should never go out of control. This needs to be addressed before its too late; otherwise it will end up in mess. Early symptoms would be over consumption of food, sleeping for longer time, trying to hide from the crowd (being alone) and huge problems like bad relationships, fights without reasons etc. resulting in depression could also occur.

When it comes to HER, who again scores top in the stress test, who is the most active member of the family, things need to be in corrected. To put more light, woman must overcome her stress in a healthy manner which she can usually take place at weekends by giving a room for herself, her interests so that the next week is welcomed with great enthusiasm and goes in zoom.

Also read: Manage both Office and Home like a SUPERWOMAN

Simple ways for a stress free weekend:

Go out for a walk / long drive / mini vacation.

Exercise or start a new hobby. Perhaps read a book.

Go to your loved ones place or hang out with friends.

Let your loved ones cook else lock the kitchen and order from outside.

Spend time with your kids and play their favorite game.

Book an appointment with your health expert and get pampered.

If you are a woman looking for options for a stress free weekend, do try the above pointers and if you know a lady who deserves a stress free weekend, do help them to implement the same.

“Never forget lady! You look gorgeous only if you are healthy. So take care of yourself and exercise, which is also a stress reducer. Be fit. Spread joy! No one will be there for you woman, though you work for any one and everyone! Be there for yourself. Take a break. It’s really fine. Don’t wait for someone to get you a flower, instead plant one! “

To all the men around these ladies, you need to take an initiative on this one, else you would surely repent some day for not doing so. Sharing a secret, one stress free weekend = more productivity next week so invest wisely men.

To the ladies out there, Surrender yourself for the day than repenting for a wasted yesterday! Sometimes being selfish isn’t bad either. Fuel your body in a better way for a speedy tour for the next week. Also adjust your attitude and see that all your extra stress is gone!

Everyone is busy with the hectic life they lead. Looking at the present day scenario, where both the Mother and the Father are working, forget about quality time with kids; they hardly make up some time for their kids. I agree, whatever parents do is purely for their kid’s future but i really doubt if they have ever asked their kids about what they want. Even then, parents must never compromise at the cost of missing the memorable and cherish-able moments. Time waits for none! same way, you can neither stop yourself by becoming OLD nor stop your children from growing up. However while parenting you can always be there, present, so that you don’t miss those memorable moments while they grow and have strengthen relationship by spending quality time with kids.

People usually have wrong assumption that spending money (directly or indirectly) on children is good parenting. Instead, spend twice as much quality time with kids and half as much money for better upbringing. Children are a blessing, hence if you cannot assure quality time with kids, please DON’T HAVE THEM, for they are never worth an absent parent.

Guilty of bad parenting? Simple tweaks to spend quality time with kids:

Win their TRUST:

No one opens up unless they trust you and kids are more tough when it comes to this. A hug, a smile, laughter with the kid, a small conversation, letting them know how precious they are to you, speaking positive things about them, a small walk in the evening (probably before bed), knowing their favorite pass time / hobbies and indulging yourself in the same with them. Believe me, they will love it!

Set an environment where they tend to share all the day’s story before you ask anything. Be it at the dining table or replacing the fairy tale at the bed. Share your favorite childhood times spent, than any imaginary story. See to it that you pay attention to them and their words. To be straight forward keep aside your gadgets which would otherwise distract you leaving your kid annoyed. They hate partial attention. Call them with their pet-names. This increases the closeness between you and your kid.

Dedicate one day in a month:

Spend a day in a garden or even at home dedicating the day (if feasible) or few hours and teach a new moral on the very day. Celebrating doesn’t mean getting expensive gifts or cutting cake or making it public. Knowing your kid’s interest and working on the same with them, a candle light dinner in an open air (even your terrace), walking in the silent night with only your kid, speaking on how better he / she can be in the next month, his / her progress in the previous month. Also, speaking even about what he / she expects out of you would be a quality time making the day more special. Hence, Have a date with your kid at-least once in a month.

Avoid GADGETS / GIZMOS:

Try replacing the time spent on TV with the child with any of the above. Keep them away from the machine world (THE GADGETS). Play in the garden space or a park near by. Do some healthy exercises or play some fitness games. Sometimes taking out the old games out from the wardrobe and few short games will also help, no matter how silly the game is!

Small SURPRISES:

Escort from their school or any class (swimming, dancing, singing, karate, etc etc) makes them more happy. All the way back home discuss on the their best performance in their class and how they can improve themselves. Cook their favorite dish, Play their favorite game. Sleep besides them sometimes. Behave like kids with them such that you forget the entire world when you are with them. Most importantly, don’t forget to capture their expressions at such moments!

Fool your kids for healthy up-bringing:

Yet another Amazing way to have quality time with kids is by indulging him or her while you are cooking, and enact as you are teaching the recipe in front of the camera before the countless audience, with the kid being the host of the show. Really, try this out! Involve them in getting the things for you or even adding few ingredients to the dish, and at the end, appreciating the dish and crediting your kid for cooking something so yummy. This not only makes them happy but also helps them forget their NO’s w.r.t the veggies they always hated to eat. It’s good to fool the kids sometimes for their own betterment. Never forget to make them realize on the same after they eat it, that even the one they hated can be so delicious.

Cheap and timely love tricks:

Surely, a lot of parents can do this on daily basis without fail. Do not forget to say I LOVE YOU once in a day, a warm hug and some good things about the kid. Preferably before bed. It makes the child feel more secure and proud of self, letting the child to end the day with a positive attitude. Cuddling helps a lot to stay connected. Make a lasting impression in their hearts whenever you sit with your kids.

HAPPY PARENTING!!

P.S. : If you are parents or going to be parents, kindly share your feedback’s in the below comments section on spending quality time with kids.

Professional Ethics and Harassment at work! Yeah, we all come across this word; either during interview, joining process or some email from the HR etc. However, sometimes it’s nothing but big and strong words only on pdf, papers and books. The whole world celebrated International Woman’s day on 8th March so did corporate offices around the globe where people talk about woman power, women empowerment, feminism etc. But in the same place few wolves exist who somehow manage to be cruelly malicious involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime against women employees.

Beware of such wolves around you. Don’t be their prey. Before you become a victim and share your dreadful incident on social media, hit back and save yourself and create awareness to the rest of the woman crowd. Being silent and suffering from within is something a lot of woman master but IT’S NOT WORTH it. It might be you today but tomorrow it would be someone else who might not be as strong as you. Moreover It will only fetch you discomfort at work which might even be dragged to personal life. Hence, ruining both your professional growth (career) and your personal life.

Always Remember, if you don’t oppose at the very start, your silences are taken for a ‘YES’ and that you are OK with it. So what ? Shout back or be cruel like them? Yeah, at times you can even be annoying by saying things what you feel directly / indirectly.

To be more specific, if you are harassed may it be on gender basis, physically or SEXUALLY or in any other manners, stop thinking much and bring it to your direct supervisor’s notice then & there and if it’s your supervisors is misbehaving with you then go to that person’s supervisor / anti-harassment team (if your company has one). When I speak of “HARASSMENT AT WORK”, it might not necessarily be a physical touch. There are quite a few who even touch you through their nasty eyes and words they speak. Please don’t welcome them, for you never know what that would lead towards; just by your silence.

Although it is tough to say but if someone is trying to be over-friendly or even pretending to be a good colleague, you must be alert. However, it’s very much essential to draw a clear border between what’s personal and what’s professional. Even if a behaviour falls into professional ethics court, still beware of every move taken towards you. For the first time, it might just look a mere accident but Accidents don’t repeat.

Oppose it.

Make them feel you aren’t comfortable with their behavior.

Warn them.

Be subtle.

Totally agree that the reasons for their behavior aren’t always you neither your looks nor your dressing sense. Many a times it’s that hard truth of their life; i.e. ‘a woman is capable of doing things what man can do or run at same pace as theirs’. For most men / seniors / colleagues out there, it’s even hard to accept your intelligence, you being skilled compared to them, being more effective at work and noticeable with respect to work and deliverables, sometimes communication and every other thing that they couldn’t do or they lacked. Your progress literally pricks them and come what may, they wouldn’t hesitate to pull you down the ladder at any cost.

Few usual cases of harassment at work :

“Give and take”: Especially for benefit minded people. Say, tolerate everything just for the sake of promotion / a good hike. Again, it is harassment at work.

“Leading to intolerable work atmosphere”: Constant actions or talks or invitations will drive you from work and distract you leading to emotional breakdown. E.g. Not talking professionally, sending adult messages, unofficially bugging and chattering etc.

“Dominating / blackmailing”: Show seniority to newly joined intern or don’t help them / guide them being a mentor and if you don’t entertain them they respond saying “Will see you when you come to ask for help or guidance”.

Measures to be taken to avoid harassment at work, getting bullied and even handling such situations with ease:

All women out there:

Draw a line between you and any other employee and define your limits and maintain the same.

Confine your meetings and talks to be professional only.

Ensure you are aware all the anti-harassment at work policies as you would be asked for proofs sometimes.

Stick to your work and do not entertain / accept anything from susceptible wolves (May it be even a cup of coffee in the cafeteria).

If colleagues are not guiding / helping, try to discuss in the group / communicate officially via emails in presence of manager.

If things are still not working out, inform the same to your reporting manager before it’s too late. This is beneficial for yourself, your project as well as the company.

Your hard work will be paid off. Don’t think your boss will screw up your appraisal if you don’t fulfill his wishes.

Don’t ignore any harassment at work. Create awareness it would be benefit other colleagues and save them from becoming victims.

Attend various training sessions on harassment at work and how to deal with it. Speak out with other colleagues and exchange thoughts and ideas about the same.

Only cowards are involved in harassment at work. Speak out aloud in public and they will not respond. If it happens to be your boss, prefer not working under them / with them.

All companies / policy makers out there:

Every company should have an anti-harassment policy, where the employee can approach the team and bring their problem to notice and get it addressed.

It’s the company’s responsibility to make the employees aware of the policy and avail its features at ease. This is the best way to avoid any harassment at work for it would be the same for all and not biased based on designation.

Have monthly training sessions on the Harassment policy and various learning’s about the same for all levels of employees in the company with mandatory attendance.

Every case should be taken seriously, like it’s treated in the court. Proper actions should be taken against the harasser.

See to it that the employee is clear while describing the ill treatment, without hesitation, without the fear of reprisal, which would help in knowing how worse it was for her to go through the situation.

Create easy access to anti-harassment team by all employees. Have a forum where woman can raise complaints / talks / discussions about various harassments they face at organization.

To all those men out there:

You will never feel better if the only thing you know is to make the other suffer! Blowing out someone else’s candle doesn’t make yours shine any brighter.

Be professional.

Don’t lose your respect.

Taste your words before you spit them out.

Treat the women around you the way you would want yourself to be treated. Respect them.

What goes around comes around. If you harass someone, some else would harass you or your loved ones.

To summarize, Consequences are worse if any kind of harassment at work is left un-attended. Though a woman is meant to have lot of patience, or meant to tolerate all the shit thrown at her, it’s really tough to go through the mixed feelings like fear, anger, frustration, insult, humiliation, confusion, torture and the list extends. Do not be bullied by anyone into keeping silent. Unite to end bullying.

A wise woman never wishes to be someone’s enemy. A wise woman refuses to be someone’s victim!

Every one of us is aware of the Hare and the Tortoise story. Though the Hare had the SKILLS, the tortoise won the race with its ATTITUDE! Skills can always be achieved through constant learning & training, but not attitude. Attitude matters and it can never be taught.

It’s really not worth having a big list of skills or certifications when you are not able to speak for yourself. You may have mastered any stream or said platform but that alone is just not sufficient. Any company would want to hire TECHNICAL WIZARDS but it is never an impossible job to learn a new tool or a new language etc. What matters more is how you picture yourself.

Your attitude, creativity, open-mindedness, communication, leadership qualities are also equally weighed or maybe even held most important during hiring. In simple terms, ‘Be the right team player’. Have a positive attitude which includes taking up responsibilities, complimenting each other, smiling at each other, respecting peers, prompt responses etc. as these are the keys to a successful workplace.

As per the recent survey the below priorities were cited:

Personality

Cultural Alignment

Skill-set

We all are aware of the rapidly changing technologies in the industries which is responsible for the skills getting outdated in no time. All that remains constant is how you work, how effectively you work within a team, how you lead yourself as these qualities strengthen your work life and keep you there for a longer period. As mentioned earlier your attitude has a strong role to play as there is no room for spoon feeding when it comes to attitude. You got to have that self-determined quality in you which would make yourself autonomous. Build such a personality which can keep you flexible with the changing requirements and needs.

Also read: Are you Satisfied with Your Job

Attitude matters and to know yours, you should ask yourself the following:

Your peers like to work with you

Your peers would react positively if they were asked about you

You welcome feedback and share your thoughts/ideas

You are matured enough to deal with the ups and downs well.

You might be hard working, and still not satisfied with the hikes and promotions. There might be situations where people who hardly work get good hikes or promotions but if your efforts are sincere all your hard works will pay off someday.

Many think buttering the boss is the easy access to hikes and promotions… But, ever thought how long they would back you up, not at all throughout your career! Then why do that? Moreover, that would never fetch you self-satisfaction. It is only your hard work at the end of the day which pays you off in a long run. Your impressive personality will surely SEAL the DEAL! But remember, never over-sell yourself.

Also, when you go for an interview it is always good to be curious to know about the company. Do some homework about the company before going for the interview. Your questions are always welcome by the interviewer. In fact, it’s kind of a green signal, if you have a couple of questionnaires, as it would show how curious you are about the company’s big-picture issues.

The interviewer will find thousands of resumes with the same skill-set, but it is only YOUR ATTITUDE and PERSONALITY which will be unique when it comes to his table.

Having said that, be aware that you can always be REPLACED! There is a huge crowd for every position with similar skills and with increased competition level, one must keep improving their skill set. But any skill set without a positive attitude is not complete. ATTITUDE Matters!

A woman becomes a mother as soon as she gets to know she is expecting. Hence the work-life balancing actually faces a twist right then; so is the symptoms of discrimination at the workplace. It all depends on how comfortable she is to inform about the same to her employer and how will the employer react for the same. If the rapport between the two is good enough she can easily inform by 3 months. This would really help in planning further w.r.t her workload, working hours, maternity leaves and pay, upcoming hikes and promotions, handovers and so on and so forth.

There is always one big concern the employee would have towards her boss. Yes, it’s the behavior of her boss from the time she shares the news about she expecting, her tenure in the workplace since then till she is back to the office after her maternity.

Although a lot of companies value their employees and expect them to return back to work after the maternity period as well provide various perks etc but research says, most of the working moms went through harassment or ill-treatment or negative comments or some other form of discrimination at workplace by their boss/colleagues both during the pregnancy and after their return from maternity. 10% of working women were treated badly after their return by their employers and few were even forced to resign.

Though the employee has the right (under the Fair Work Act) to ask for flexible working hours, like working part-time, early come and go, work from home request, it’s become a common thing that people take it otherwise. The employee is being treated differently than the normal working employees. It’s the biggest mistake on employers part if he or she thinks that the employee won’t be effective at work when she is expecting or after her maternity. The employer is many a time very unfair in assigning tasks to such woman thinking she might no more be capable to complete challenging tasks on time. Sometimes even speak low about her capability while in an open discussion or a team meeting.

Yeah, it’s true that she might need a little time to settle down everything and join the race. MATERNITY brings along with it a lot of transformations, adjustments, responsibilities, sacrifices, commitments etc, the list never ends. This is the time when she really needs a good moral support both at work as well as home.

Pregnancy/maternity is one of the noted attributes of protection from discrimination at the workplace. Be it not including her in important meetings held, the type of job/task assigned, or the drop in the level of expectations from her when it comes to delivering tasks, everything leads to discrimination at the workplace. This might also include making fun of her when she isn’t able to grasp things soon while at work, taking time in giving the deliverables, requesting for leaves for the baby’s care, and many more obvious reasons. Employer not considering you for any of the assignment is also kind of discrimination at the workplace. Raise your voice against such acts.

A beautiful video mentioned below describing how a boss in spite of having tough quarters goes beyond his limits to provide comfortable workplace to a pregnant employee.

Yes totally agree that every woman can’t or wouldn’t get such a helping workplace or boss. However, when a woman is made to come across such situations, she feels more comfortable. If you aren’t comfortable with your boss/company and find discrimination at the workplace, here are few tips to handle such scenarios easily.

Also read: Quick makeup ideas and makeup tutorials for people with no time

Few tips if you are facing discrimination at the workplace:

Never ignore such situations when you feel you are discriminated. Don’t welcome them at all.

Feel free to express your feelings, that you aren’t happy with discrimination treatment. Your silence will certainly make them take you for granted.

Always remember that everyone in the company has someone superior to them, you can thus approach your employer’s superior and lodge a complaint if you face discrimination at the workplace.

No law tells someone to discriminate you. Hence, speak up and let them know you are keen about the situation and serious about it. But, remember false complaints will surely cost you. For more information, go through the FMLA (Family & Medical Leave Act).

Ensure you have valid proofs for the complaint lodged. People will believe you only when there are written records or any proofs which would make your job easier. Like the company usually has the incident diaries for every employee; likewise, you too maintain an incident/event diary which includes the following details:

DATE & TIME

Incident Description

Valid proofs (if any)

Witnesses (friends or colleagues).

You can track the same to closure and make sure your problem is addressed.

Don’t forget the ample papers you were asked to sign and accept while you were new to the company, likewise you too have the right to ask for those papers which has the policies included where it states that, you have the right to raise your voice against any kind of harassment or discrimination at workplace. Keep those documents handy so that they can be produced before them, to make them aware they actually exist and that you have the right to take any kind of serious action against them.

Maternity leave isn’t a PRIVILEGE , it’s her RIGHT.

It’s your right to stand against any ill treatments or discrimination at workplace. Be transparent and feel free to put forth your concerns when you face such situations. We all know the “Magnificent Mary“. This is how women are when determined enough. Remember, you can create wonders if you seriously make yourself strong. Working mom usually start with great chunks of time thinking “This is impossible…” and when she gets over it, she keeps going and never stops, and finally she sort of achieves what once was impossible to achieve!
