After his classes during his academic tenure, he used to engage himself by taking coaching classes for students who are financially weak and for the students who enrolled for some course. This passionate activity indirectly inspired him to take forward teaching as his profession.

After graduating from engineering college, he worked in IT industry job for 2 years. While working at the company, conducting various presentations and taking up sessions, a eureka moment of becoming a teacher attracted him towards the academics.

Teaching profession is indeed thankless job and a noble profession

Teaching will not only help in moulding one’s career but also helps in building one’s own life and in turn build the nations future. Lecturing for him is a straightforward way to provide informative knowledge to students in a faster and effective way and nothing else. He think it is one way in which we can keep ourselves updated to the latest technologies in field.

More than handling students, handling a new subject for first time is always a terror for any faculty. “YouTube” became that one important source for him to learn new subjects which in turn helped him to deliver better in the classrooms and lab sessions. This motivated him to contribute back to the society by starting his own channel “Geeks & Geeks” so that many other students and aspirants could benefit from this channel.

Initial days was very challenging, as he had to prepare himself for lecture videos in a most effective way apart from his routine academic life. Even though he had no much idea about how to create a video and means of uploading it. Through his student he learnt it and deployed the videos.

If you are willing to learn by keeping your ego aside, there are many ways you can impart knowledge to people around you..

The 2 month old YouTube channel “Geeks & Geeks” has received 500+ subscribers already. The intention of creating this was to upload technical video lectures related to Computer Science and Information Science Engineering disciplines.

Currently, DBMS and JAVA concepts are being worked upon. The lecture videos are highly appreciated by students and staff and has benefited the students. Videos related to various subjects like operations research, Machine Learning and many more are in the pipeline for teach students via Youtube Videos.

Abhishek see to it that the video lectures are uploaded on the right time when students need it.  Students feedback has helped him in realizing that the lecture videos have benefited them for their academics as well as career and their inputs for upcoming videos is taken in consideration as he feel it’s always a boon.

The most memorable event in this journey was the positive response that he received for his first lecture videos when it was uploaded in his channel “Geeks and Geeks – a knowledge sharing platform” which gave him the confidence to pursue it further.

When a shy person like him can do this, any teacher willing to share KNOWLEDGE can do this.

Abhishek’s suggestion to all the teachers and academics is that, Always urge to be a student when it comes to learning. Try to get out of your shoes and get into students shoes while teaching, this helps teaching learning process.

About Archana who delivers Healthy Indian Veg recipes across the world:

Born as a non-identical twin, Archana always had a friend in the form of a brother.  Recollecting from her childhood memories she says, “We were in the same school; same class, same books, dressed in the same uniform and carrying the same bag but with a different color. We always were getting special attention in school for being twins.”

As obvious kids fight and twins fight even more. However, it was a smart move by Archana’s parents to punish both kids no matter who is the culprit. This helped both not only to continue their mischievous activities smartly but even made their brains tickle more. Resulting, Archana went on to become a master-chef on healthy Indian veg recipes in the Internet world. But, unfortunately, these life/career goals also separated the twins from each other.

As every kid born in the 90’s, Archana too wanted to do Engineering and work for an IT company. She did complete her Bachelors as well as Masters in Engineering subjects. However, the foodaholic and love towards trying different cuisine, made her develop an immense interest in cooking.

Jump to start ‘Hebbars Kitchen’

After getting married and moving to Australia, Archana tried to continue her Software testing profession in Australia. But, it wasn’t easy to get a job in Australia without any local experience.

On one hand, just to keep herself occupied she signed up for a free WordPress (blogging platform) account and started to post few basic recipes with step-by-step photos. On the other, It was a hard time to convince her parents and in-law’s, as they always wanted her to work in proper 9 to 5 job.

With the basic understanding of technology and interest towards cooking, Hebbar’s Kitchen started as a hobby. However, there wasn’t any great response initially. Meanwhile, Buzzfeed Tasty videos were creating a lot of buzz in the market and that inspired Archana to make videos.

Also, there weren’t any Indian channels (or could be but not popular) showcasing the Indian recipes with shorter videos on Facebook. Hence, the husband-wife duo thought to give another try in the form of shorter videos.

EVERYTHING ABOUT ‘Hebbar’s Kitchen’

The main focus was to ensure nutrition rich and healthy Indian Veg recipes. The thought of Buzzfeed like videos for food recipe was fascinating but it had its own challenges. Right from building a website/app, shooting and editing videos to name few.

The husband-wife duo shared the work. Archana used to shoot the video and do the editing part and her husband used to handle the website, mobile apps, and photography. The response to these short videos also was not that great in the initial stage.

Eventually, feedbacks from viewers, motivated the duo to work harder. With technical education, the team could easily learn the techie stuff related to developing and managing applications or learning to edit videos.

Earlier, they used to shoot videos from iPhone attached to selfie stick and then edit with her personal laptop. The video quality wasn’t that great but it was a good start. Later on, the husband gifted a DSLR camera, professional video editing software and high-end desktop machine to shoot and edit higher quality videos. This motivated the duo to work harder and harder and harder.

With continuous improvements, the response was amazing and they were thrilled to see themselves in top 3 most viewed Indian channels in Facebook and topmost in health and lifestyle channels on Facebook. You can see detailed report here.

The blog alone was not exciting however the videos changed the game for Hebbar Kitchen’s proud owners who wanted to spread the Healthy Indian Veg recipes across the world. Less number of video bloggers and more number of Photo-bloggers was another reason to upgrade.

With all this; the investment definitely would shoot up anyone might say. However, for Hebbar’s kitchen, there is not much production cost as they shoot and edit videos in the home itself. However, a bit of capital investment was involved in the initial phase to buy camera, lights, and software. Also, a lot of expenditure/time is involved in maintaining the website and mobile app (ios and android) and of course there will be day to day expenditure on the ingredients used to prepare recipes.

Turning point/JUMP BACK moment was watching the BuzzFeed video and thinking out of the box to implement something similar by creating videos and of course this was backed by loads of feedback from short videos motivated her to put more efforts.

Currently, Hebbars Kitchen has over almost 5.8 million organic followers at the moment on Facebook and have a reach of 125 million+ viewers a month for their Healthy Indian Veg recipes. You can find their video insights from the third-party video insight company Videoly.

Archana started Hebbar’s Kitchen just to keep herself busy, but now she does not get enough time for herself. Since she works from home, it helps to maintain a work-life balance. However, she makes sure to give a day off on Saturday to her Kitchen and usually does all shopping which is required for the upcoming week. The duo has a lot of plans for future, but the next immediate plan would be to provide multilingual support.

Till now, it has been a life-changing experience for the one who never thought she would start a blog one day. She is thankful to her husband, family, and friends for support at every stage of her life.

Yedu Krishnan was born and bought up in Mangalore, Karnataka of India. Completed his schooling from SMEMS Surathkal, PUC/12^th from St Aloysius College and then completed his Mechanical Engineering from MITE, Mangalore.

Aspired to be a pilot, his childhood passion was in building stuff by assembling motors and electronic items from the garage. He started his career at Redsplash Media (startup) as Chief Marketing Manager located at Trivandrum. Under the mentorship of Sony Joy (Truecaller VP now) who is a well-known figure in the startup ecosystem, Yedu gained a lot of exposure in the leadership role he was playing.

Later, Yedu Krishnan started Greencycle, which was India’s first organized waste paper collectors. Building a product startup out of India is always exciting. These set of innovative engineers were building something with the aim to build a world-class product out of India in a space where no other Indian company existed.

The major challenge was to compete against the global market. All these definitely demanded a world-class team which did not come easy for Tachus. With a core team of 5 members and few other folks, the Tachus reached its first milestone with this flagship product.

Once the team had a clear vision they were all set to create the benchmark in Indian History. Nowadays, Yedu’s day ends up with daily office works, coordinating with teams and making sure things are exciting and on. However, when he is not working you will find him in his home reading some books.

Everything about ‘Tachus electronic targets’:

Tachus electronic targets is the first flagship patented product of Tachus Technology Pvt Ltd. Tachus is a smart electronic target scoring system for air rifle and pistol shooters to train. Olympic shooting aspirants and shooting trainers can make use of Tachus electronic targets to train at their convenience, either from home or shooting range. Tachus device has a hardware which connects to an application installed on the laptop by Wi-Fi or LAN.

As shooter shoots on hardware (Target), the corresponding scores are displayed on the laptop. The results show up with 0.01mm accuracy as complying with International standards. The software also comes with a whole lot of interesting features which adds value to the training session.

Yedu says, “It all turned out valuable during our pre-launch in November when we saw a good response from customers. We have few well-known faces of Indian shooting ecosystem supporting us in our journey.”

From the initial stage founders of Tachus were clear about their product. For Yedu, It was an obvious choice. The problem statement was clear and the market was open. Initially, building a good team and raising funds were very challenging.

Entrepreneurship is for people who take it as a way of life. Struggle and failures ARE part and parcel of this life.

Having a good support from the family, in spite of facing hundreds of failures, when you have a strong team who are ready to fail to succeed, there is nothing stopping is the key mantra which keeps the team unstoppable. Initially, the company founders used their personal funds to build an MVP. Then, they raised a good amount of initial customers through pre-orders.

JUMP Back Moment:

The Turning point/JUMP BACK moment came to Yedu when he was reading a startup success story of Mobme wireless in a magazine and randomly shooting an email to connect to Sony Joy (then COO of Mobme and truecaller VP now) and rest is history in Yedu’s life and a stepping stone to the target scoring system developed in India.

There are lots of beautiful moments during this journey. However, the first Demo of Tachus was most exhilarating one. Overall, the product is well appreciated by various Indian forums and few professionals in the shooting and startup world.

With blessings of his company and his idea towards reaching out to people in local languages which majority of people understand, led to the birth of Namma Karavali.

The Idea of Namma Karavali came to Azzan around 1-1.5 year back when he had gifted a Smartphone to his mom on her Birthday. However, Azzan soon learned, she was hardly using any app apart from Whatsapp or Candy Crush.

The main barrier to use other apps was the language problem. Although, she can read and understand English, consuming content in English was always difficult for her.

That was the eureka moment which led to the thought of making a content discovery platform that can help users get local instant and relevant content, that too in their own language. Azzan took this Idea to his board at Pace Wisdom and the board liked the idea. Thus, the team started off on this news aggregator project on weekend basis.

Everything about Namma Karavali – News Aggregator App in Kannada

Initially, they had started working out on the idea and initiated the work in POC (Proof of Concept) under Pace Wisdom office premises itself. But, after getting some good response, the board recently decided to make this idea a different entity and registered it as Karavali Media Pvt. Ltd. On top of that, Namma Karavali also bagged an incubation space at their own Alma mater college Mangalore Institute of technology and Engineering, Moodbidri.

Once the POC was ready, they started aggregating news and summarizing them in less than 60 words as they were inspired by Inshorts. However, once they understood their audience, they modified the application for better user access. They hired 2 interns (writers) to source content from 200+ local, regional, national and international news portals and summarizing the news. This news aggregator firm also translates some interesting articles to Kannada, that people would otherwise not get to read.

The idea was to give only facts and not opinions.

Turning point/ JUMP BACK moment came in in the form of the number of downloads and support shown by the local crowd. Most numbers of downloads were via word of mouth. This news aggregator app in Kannada has regular downloads with hardly any marketing, and they are one of the highest rated apps in the coastal Karnataka belt having the rating of 4.8/5.

Understanding what people like, what they don’t like was very challenging initially. But, with the help of Analytics, the team were able to gauge the taste of users and that has helped the content team to keep the content engagement. Apart from local news, the app also runs some contests for feedback at regular intervals to tap user behavior and interests.

Azzan confidently says,

“Not being from Content/Media was a big challenge. We are tech guys new in the field of Media and content. But I always believed great content is the key to user retention. The savior is Analytics. Our Analytics helps us analyze the user behavior and makes us learn what are users liking and what are they not.”

At present, an average user spends around 2 sessions in our app. And each session spanning up to 3 minutes. The app has around 3000 active users and nearing the 10,000 download mark.

Revealing about the future roadmaps on Namma Karavali, the focus looked very clear for this dynamic team. In future, Namma Karavali is looking to solve some important problems. Few of them are:

1. Show relevant news to the users based on their interests.
2. Ensure news are not Fake and hoax and by verifying the news source.
