Basic Skills Required to be successful in this role :
- Experience developing high concurrency, performance-oriented Java systems
- Using standard tools to tune, profile, and debug Java Virtual Machines (JVM)
- Solid grasp on good software engineering practices such as code reviews and deep focus on testability and quality
- Strong communication skills: ability to explain complex technical concepts to designers, support staff, and other engineers
Job Description for Software Engineer Job Openings at Imply :
- Develop a next generation analytics platform focused on interactivity and streaming data.
- The focus of this role is on distributed system engineering, where you will be heavily involved in the development and technical direction of the open-source Apache Druid project and how Druid works within the larger Imply product offering.
- Building distributed ingestion systems that can handle throughput rates in the tens of millions of records per second (RPS)
- Implementing scalable query engines capable of sub-second analysis of hundreds of gigabytes of data
- Creating systems that provide fault tolerance and consistency in an environment with 100s to 1000s of nodes
Preferred skills:
- Exposure to Big Data systems such as Hadoop, Presto, Spark, ElasticSearch or relational databases like MySQL or Postgres is a strong plus
- A history of open-source contributions is a plus; being a contributor on data-related projects is a big plus
