Responsibilities of Software Engineer Job Opening at Western Digital:

Work in close cooperation with the FW Developers, Test Developers and Validation team to understand their problems and needs.
Supporting users and troubleshoot problems.
Propose and implement scalable and high-availability solutions to increase development throughput.
Develop highly reliable and scalable solutions for build and test automation (FTMS)
Operate the critical infrastructure for stable, around the clock operations.
Be part of an agile scrum team and participate in the scrum ceremonies

Requirements qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

BE/BTech 2025 Graduates in Computer Science / Computer Engineering.
Applicants with a strong academic record, including a minimum CGPA of 7.5 or higher, are preferred
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong technical skills in area of study
Interest in HDD, flash, semiconductor, components, nonvolatile memory industry
Languages: Mainly C#, .Net development. C, C++, HTML5, CSS3, PHP, Bash/Shell, Python a plus.
Concepts: Domain driven design. Service-based, event driven service architecture, API functions and their development
Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows & Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu) for client and server systems
Databases: theory & design concepts, SQL
Security models: User authentication & Role based access control (Vault, Keycloak)
Familiar with popular tools/libraries/frameworks
Revision control & issue tracking utilities (SVN, git, JIRA)
Working with & developing RESTful APIs to support tool integrations
Familiar with an agile scrum roles and processes. Good teamplayer.

Key Responsibilities for SDE Job Opening at Western Digital:

Participate in firmware development which is done in embedded C++ on multiple environments using latest standards C++14/17: FPGA, Simulator, eHDD (Enterprise Hard Disk Drive) product.
We use SAFe(Scale Agile Framework for enterprise) for our software development. Participate in SCRUM/Agile processes.
Create design documents pertinent to the various phases of firmware development.
You’ll be on a scrum team responsible for full stack embedded firmware development for enterprise/datacenter HDD. This includes innovation, design, implementation and debug of data structures, software algorithms, data path, driversneeded for our large and complex software environment.
Deliver on cutting-edge storage products with interfaces like SAS, SATA, PCIe.
Work with cross functional teams to develop HDD products.
Self-motivated to work both unsupervised and as part of an agile team. Collaborate to develop self and others within group.
Understand end to end product lifecycle.

Preferred Skills :

Bachelors +1 yrs experience in CS, CE, EE, EC or equivalent required.
Strong knowledge in C/C++, Object oriented programming, Data Structure, Algorithms, Multi-threaded programming, STL, Templates, Design Pattern.
Proven experience as a software designer.
Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new technologies, complex code and developing system, architecture view.
Strong aptitude and penchant for problem solving, algorithm design, system design, and complexity analysis skills.
You are comfortable and enjoy working with dynamic and ever evolving environments.
Technical mindset with great attention to detail and an ever positive, can-do attitude.
Demonstrate use of out-of-box thinking for creative solutions to highly sticky problems.
You have excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.
You’ll be a fun and enthusiastic teammate who enjoys a challenge and celebrates success.

Preferred:

Familiarity with micro-controller architecture (ARM or ARC), embedded systems.
Previous RTOS experience. (e.g. uCOS/ThreadX/MQX/VxWorks/Embedded Linux).
Knowledge and experience in the use of bus analyzers, JTAG, emulators and other firmware debugging tools.
