Responsibilities of Software Engineer Intern Job Opening at Pearson:

• Develop, document, and unit test complex modules utilizing Java, Spring, and Node.js.
• Ensure that code meets quality standards and adheres to requirements.

Additional Details:

• Duration: 3 Months (June until August)

• Work Setup: Hybrid - Office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

• Salary: INR 30,000 per month

Basic Qualifications Required to be Successful in this Role:

• Experience with Java, Spring, Node.js, and REST API development
• Interest in e-commerce with a willingness to learn
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, relational databases, troubleshooting, logging, and monitoring tools
• 1st class degree in computer science or a related field
• Good communication skills

Internship Program overview

• Internship Project(s): You will be given a project to work on for the entire summer and do a final presentation during the last week of the internship. Your manager and mentor will help you every step of the way to ensure you learn and develop new skills.
• Learning Enhancing Sessions: There will be various, mandatory, learning sessions every week to learn about Pearson, the Technology organization, and various other skills.
• In-Person Activities: Throughout the internship, you will have the option to partake in office networking events and other Pearson India events.
• Final Project Presentation: You will present a Final Project report-out to leaders in the final week.

Stipend: Upto ₹28K/Month(Expected)

Basic Qualifications Required to be Successful in this Role:

• Good knowledge in RESTful API design, development
• Strong knowledge in Python, Java 8+, Spring boot, and database (Nosql, Vector database, or RDDBMS) – preference for hands-on coding experience
• Good knowledge of software lifecycle processes
• Knowledge of writing unit test cases
• Ability to communicate solutions, ideas, and suggestions to the team effectively and comprehensibly
• Understanding of business and organizational strategy
• Good understanding of Application, and non-functional aspects of a system
• Knowledge about Agile methodologies
• Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, communication skills, and problem-solving ability
• Collaboration abilities – willingness to share ideas, documentation, and leading practices

Also Has:

• Knowledge in managing the end-to-end API projects
• Experience in supporting peer teams and their responsibilities, such as development with best practices, writing test cases, and documentation
• Understanding of AI and API patterns, frameworks, libraries, and tools
• Abilities on out of box thinking, individual contribution

Responsibilities for API Engineer Intern Job Opening at Pearson:

• Design and implement highly scalable, interactive web applications through API with high usability
• Rapidly iterate on product ideas, build prototypes, and participate in proof of concepts.
• Work closely with great leaders, and service owners to build effective APIs
• Understanding requirements and incorporating broader aspects such as overall product experience data privacy, business continuity, information security, integration with other systems, etc.
• Be an innovative and proactive team member and cross-collaborate with the team across business and engineering divisions.
• As an engineering dev, build or guide best practices with a team with a standard set of guidelines establish direction, and provide technical suggestions
• Cultivate lasting relationships across business, IT, and vendors/industry analysts to maintain insight into the broader enterprise as well as industry trends.
• Recognizes industry technology trends and emerging technologies, understands how they apply to the business context, and can drive their adoption into our organization.
• Evangelizes in API Engineering and encourages the importance of technical quality, emerging technologies, sharing & experimentation across the org through mentoring, hackathons, communities, etc.
